Academy School Branding, Signage and Prospectuses
For such a well established school that has seen many generations of students pass through it's doors over several sites over decades we had to treat this branding with some extra care.
The Rainhill Lion emblem it seems had been traced and recreated and redrawn over many years and as such had degraded beyond recognition. Attempts to trace the lion's origin through archives and local libraries even a facebook group for the former grammar school did not come up with anything.
After much research we decided to recreate the Lion taking the key identifiable features of the original logo that had survived and integrating them into a recreated emblem resulted in a strong recognisable logo.
In order for the 6th form logo to integrate into the brand too the shield shape of the school logo was used as a background outline for the number 6.
We derived the main colour palettes for the school from the existing colours of navy and yellow and the school's house system colours combined with subject areas colours already in existence. We adapted all these colours and with some subtle colour balance we made a whole new distinctive school palette.
